This page lists the regular room hirers at Tonic Health. All hirers are independant people/organisations who have shown their commitment to operate on a regular basis from Tonic Health.

Please note:

  • All therapists/instructors are self employed, and are not contracted to provide their services by Tonic Health. Therapists hire the room and make use of the benefit of sharing a space alongside other therapists. All our therapists hold professional indemnity insurance, appropriate qualifications and are members of recognised organisations.
  • The work our therapists provide should be seen as complementary to any orthodox medical treatment, and not instead of.
  • If at any stage you are unsure of your medical status and condition, we stress that you seek medical attention at your earliest convenience. As therapists, we do not diagnose conditions - instead we look to treat the whole person as well as aim to seek the common cause.
  • Education, support and guidance will be offered to you in order that you can take ownership of your condition and manage/correct it accordingly.
  • Sadly, due to Advertising Standards regualtions, we are not able to list any specific conditions that each therapy can help with, unless it has been rigorously tested by modern medicine.
  • To book an appointment with any of the hirers, you need to contact them directly.

Emma Barker BSc

Medical Herbalist

Emma BarkerAfter completing three years studying for a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine at Lincoln, Emma achieved her qualification in July 2016. Having completed 500 hours in the teaching clinic as part of her training, she has successfully been assessed in the same diagnostic skills as that of your General Practitioner, plus has studied orthodox medications as well as herbal treatments to ensure that any herbal prescription given does not interact with any medications given by your doctor or consultant.

Emma was introduced to herbal medicine after suffering postnatal depression, for which she found the orthodox medication treatment prescribed overpowering. This sparked a keen interest in the subject which led her to start her training to become a herbalist so that she too, could help improve others health and wellbeing using natural solutions.

As a practising member of the National Institute of Medicinal Herbalists, Emma is fully insured, governed by a strict code of ethics and is obliged to take part in a robust professional development programme in order to maintain her membership. Emma is passionate about promoting natural health and well-being and is very much a community herbalist at heart. As part of her community work she volunteers for Home-Start, a charity which gives advice and support to families with young children.

 Tina King RMN B.Sc KHT

Tina King

Tina completed her three-year Bachelor of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture from the University of Lincoln in September 2011.

Prior to this Tina had a successful career as a Psychiatric nurse (RMN) in the NHS for over twenty years. Working within children’s services and Forensic Nursing before deciding that Acupuncture was the wayto continue helping people to gain and maintain their health.
She was introduced to Acupuncture as a way of helping to deal with a long-standing history of migraine headaches, highly skeptical of results, but found that acupuncture reversed the negative impact on her work and personal life.
Whilst at University she was impressed by the huge array of conditions and illnesses that Acupuncture can effectively help with and by the way which it can compliment Western Medicine.
As a British Acupuncture council registered practioner she is held to the highest standards and principles and has to provide evidence of further training and development yearly.
It isn’t possible to provide answers for all the questions in such a short space but the British Acupuncture council website is a fantastic place to start or you can arrange to have a consultation with Tina to see what can be provided for you
